Software Engineer III

Description

• Lead the design and development of scalable, high-quality software solutions aligned with business goals and technical strategy • Own complex features and projects from planning through implementation, testing, and deployment • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver projects • Contribute to architectural discussions with principal engineers and architects • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers • Conduct and lead code reviews • Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues and contribute to root cause analysis • Participate in Agile SDLC activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives • Occasionally coordinate technical efforts as a project lead • Apply health plan operations domain knowledge to technical decisions • Participate in the on-call rotation and support production stability

Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Go, or TypeScript • Deep understanding of relational and non-relational databases, including query optimization and data modeling • Expert-level experience with Git and source control workflows • Proficiency configuring and optimizing development environments and tooling • Strong experience designing and integrating RESTful and event-driven web services and APIs • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and the full SDLC • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI • Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes • Strong grasp of secure coding, performance optimization, and system reliability principles • Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers • Experience contributing to or influencing architectural decisions • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, initiative, autonomy, ownership, and accountability skills • Preferred: cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; React or Next.js; testing frameworks such as JUnit, Jest, Mocha, or Playwright; regulated-industry experience; HIPAA, PHI, and IIHI knowledge
