Senior Software Engineer, Web Platform

Description

• Design and evolve the Shreddit web platform’s architecture, performance, and developer tooling powering reddit.com • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-service initiatives involving asset delivery, HTML processing, observability, and reliability • Optimize Shreddit’s global performance • Evolve HTML rendering • Enhance web infrastructure resiliency and scale • Conduct code reviews and evaluate detailed design documents • Provide constructive feedback on product specifications and UI mocks • Establish developer workflows and champion engineering best practices • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers • Build AI tooling, automated workflows, and streamlined CI/CD pipelines to improve developer experience

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in modern web stacks, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js • Proven track record of translating complex problems into performant, scalable, safe, responsive, production-grade applications • Experience tracing, profiling, and tuning performance of network calls, rendering, or data access paths • Experience monitoring and reporting operational health • Experience implementing AI workflows and tooling for web development, optimization, and debugging • Experience designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs • Knowledge of REST, GraphQL, gRPC, HTTP, or Thrift basics • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Curiosity about emerging technologies and modern industry trends, standards, and performance optimizations
