Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

Description

• Build polished, high-converting purchasing experiences for discovering digital experiences and selling digital memberships, courses, and content at scale • Build and maintain applications with a Ruby on Rails backend and React and Next.js front-ends • Implement Next.js best practices, including SSR/SSG, routing, and performance optimization • Improve the quality of the codebase, processes, and architecture • Collaborate with Circle leaders throughout feature design • Work with designers to create a world-class user experience • Prioritize speed of iteration while maintaining code and user-experience quality

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer on complex, large-scale web applications • Experience with applications at significant scale, including 100k+ rpm and 100GB+ databases • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, MySQL/PostgreSQL, ReactJS, TypeScript, Next.js, and Tailwind • Frontend and backend experience • Effective written and verbal/oral communication skills in English • Experience working on a fully distributed remote team • Proficiency in English at CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5 • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with personal accountability • Comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and learning new technologies • Alignment with Circle’s values • Bonus: experience with creator platforms, social content and video feeds, or marketplaces • Bonus: experience with A/B testing and experimentation • Bonus: exposure to search, recommendation, and personalization at scale • Bonus: production experience with Next.js and hybrid React/Next.js systems for high-traffic applications
