• Contribute to the research, development, and sustainment of mission-focused software applications, backend services, APIs, data processing workflows, and analytical capabilities • Create and refine software applications supporting data scientists and mission partners • Maintain and enhance existing custom applications • Troubleshoot defects and improve application performance • Contribute to code reviews and technical documentation • Help deliver reliable capabilities in an agile, remote-first environment • Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, analysts, and customer stakeholders • Build applications and data pipelines that transform complex data into actionable insight
• Must be a US citizen • Current Top Secret security clearance and/or CBP/DHS suitability • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or a related field; 4 additional years of experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree • A master’s degree may count as an additional 2 years of experience • 4+ years of demonstrated professional experience with programming, design, and/or development • Professional experience with one or more strongly typed programming languages such as Java, Rust, or similar • Professional experience with one or more scripting programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar • Working knowledge of agile software development practices and tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git • Must be willing to work in a remote setting or nearby Vantor facility and be comfortable communicating via video calls • Preferred: backend development using Java and Rust • Preferred: low-latency, streaming, or event-driven data processing technologies such as Apache Flink and/or Apache Kafka • Preferred: full-stack development with modern front-end JavaScript frameworks, particularly React, Next, Leaflet, MapLibre, and Redux • Preferred: REST API framework development and maintenance • Preferred: cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OpenStack • Preferred: containerized deployments such as Kubernetes and Docker • Preferred: CI/CD tools and workflows such as Jenkins, ArgoCD, Harness, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions • Preferred: SQL database development, schema design, query optimization, or data modeling with PostgreSQL, Apache Iceberg, or similar technologies • Preferred: experience supporting research and development projects and developing production-capable systems from greenfield • Strong verbal, written, documentation, and organizational skills
