• Design, build, and maintain performant, reliable systems for interactive analysis and decision-making, from frontend to database
• Work across disciplines to translate ideas into technical solutions—this might mean building a new map-based feature, designing a scalable API, tuning a vector tile service, or integrating a generative agent into a workflow
• Participate in architectural and product design conversations with cross-functional teammates
• Write clean, testable code and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with users and partners to rapidly iterate toward useful tools
• Learn new technologies and share your knowledge with the team
• Strong experience (typically 5+ years or equivalent) developing production-grade software and systems
• Demonstrated expertise in geospatial, including: Solid foundation in GIS data types and tools (raster/vector, tiles, projections, GDAL, etc.)
• Experience with cloud-native geospatial patterns
• Proficiency in at least one of the following technical areas: Back end: Go, Python, or similar; PostgreSQL/PostGIS; API development; cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
• Front end: React/Next.js, TypeScript, component systems; web mapping libraries (Mapbox, Maplibre, Leaflet)
• AI/Agents: LLMs, embeddings, prompt engineering, vector databases, or autonomous agents in production
• Fluency in modern development practices, including: Version control (Git), CI/CD workflows and testing practices, Containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
