Frontend Staff Engineer

Salary: Not provided

Description

• Shape the long-term frontend architecture across our estate — a suite of plain-React applications and embeddable widgets, plus a Next.js (App Router) application — much of it shipping as independently versioned shared packages. • Drive pragmatic evolution that scales with XCEED's growth — not architecture for its own sake. • Champion developer velocity. Build and maintain the shared libraries, design-token system, build/release pipelines, and CI/CD that let our teams ship safely and fast — and keep our shared packages easy to release and consume. • Stay close to the code. Ship production frontend work directly — including in the areas where frontend maturity has the most room to grow — and set the standard by example, not just by document. • Establish frontend standards, best practices, and a rigorous-but-fast code-review culture. Be the technical reference point for complex frontend challenges, and raise the bar on the parts you can't see but that define a great product — types, tests, tooling, observability, security. • Own Core Web Vitals, performance budgets, and accessibility (WCAG) with a mobile-first lens and an eye on traffic spikes — from client-side bundle size and interaction latency in our React apps to SSR/ISR and SEO in our Next.js application. • Elevate the engineers around you and partner with Product, Design, and backend to turn ambitious visions into technically sound, modular realities — keeping the design system and shared components a help, not a tax.

Requirements

• 8+ years in software/frontend engineering, with a track record at Staff/Principal level or leading large-scale frontend initiatives end to end. • Deep mastery of TypeScript and modern JavaScript, semantic HTML, and advanced CSS with a design-token / utility approach (we use Tailwind with a tokenized design system). • Deep, production-proven React mastery — you understand how React itself works (reconciliation, rendering, the hooks model), not just the API, because most of our apps are plain React SPAs that own their own routing, state, and bundling. • Plus Next.js App Router depth (Server Components, SSR/ISR, hydration) for the application where SEO matters. • Strong experience with state management, caching, and data-fetching (we lean on TanStack Query over REST and GraphQL); client-side SPA architecture (routing, code-splitting, bundle budgets); and designing shared, versioned packages consumed across apps, including embeddable widgets. • Solid understanding of modern bundlers — Vite for our React apps and the Next.js pipeline (Webpack/Turbopack) — package build-and-publish workflows, and CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions with automated Playwright e2e).

Benefits

• Unlimited Paid Time Off • Flexible Working Hours • Unlimited Remote Work • Workation — work from anywhere as long as it aligns with your team’s dynamics. • Access to learning platforms (Codely, Coursera, MasterClass) and dedicated time for personal development. • Team-building activities and meet-and-greet events. • Go Out — Free passes to XCEED partners’ events to experience what our users do • Referral Program to helping us find incredible talent
