Frontend Engineer, React

Description

• Join the VA Identity team to support modernization of Veteran-facing identity and access management systems for VA.gov.

• Build and maintain responsive, accessible web interfaces using React, JavaScript, Node.js, and related technologies.

• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver user-centered solutions.

• Write, test, and debug clean, maintainable code in an Agile/Scrum environment.

• Support continuous integration, testing, and deployment processes in AWS.

• Deliver user-centered digital services that improve authentication and access for millions of Veterans.

Requirements

• Strong experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred) and building responsive, component-based UIs.

• Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript, including cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization.

• Familiarity with state management tools such as Redux or similar frameworks.

• Experience consuming and integrating with APIs, especially in high-security or large-scale systems.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage dependencies, and deliver in complex environments.

• Experience working in Agile development environments.

• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Certain roles may also require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation and/or a security clearance.
