Frontend Engineer

Role Summary

Display technical leadership by inspiring others with ideas and approaches. End to end ownership of key features in a microservices environment. Adhere to the delivery process and produce quality code that meets both product and technical requirements. Decrease overall tech debt by refactoring as appropriate while delivering product. Consultation with appropriate architecture and leadership for large features.

• Work with the UI/UX design team to translate vision to code and produce visual elements of the platform

• Build reusable code and libraries for future use

• Acting as the Frontend SME for Tech Leads on tactical initiatives, providing optimal solutions to technical issues

• Work with other members of the Frontend team to review and improve code quality

• Mentor members of the Frontend team, guiding them through complex challenges and championing improvements to current ways of working

• Keep up to date on industry trends, innovations and new technologies, recommending changes to existing practices where applicable

SKILLS WE SEEK

• 5+ year of JavaScript development experience

• 3+ years of TypeScript experience

• 3+ years of React experience

• Expertise in building complex layouts with HTML 5 & CSS 3 (SASS/LESS)

• Experience in implementing responsive designs (Bootstrap)

• Proficient understanding of XML, JSON and interacting with APIs

• Proficient understanding of frontend task managers, such as Grunt, Gulp

• Strong knowledge of code versioning tools (Git)

• Experience investigating and improving JavaScript performance

• Experience with modern browser technologies

• Experience building and debugging complex systems in a team environment

• Strong UX and design sensibilities

• High level of creativity and attention to detail

• Passion for technology and building excellent products

• Ability to learn and adapt on the go, working autonomously and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment Excellent analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to communicate effectively technical solutions or ideas with other engineers and product owners

• Architectural design and planning sessions with Front End Practice Lead

• Training and mentoring other front-end engineers

• Work closely product teams to build new features and enhancements.

• Adhere to best practices in terms of code quality, test and development practices.

• Translating UI/UX design to code and produce visual elements of the platform

• Build reusable code and libraries for future use

• Optimize UI for maximum speed and scalability
